I have a set of 901 series III speakers (restored) and a series III / IV active equalizer. I'm looking for resources to help me troubleshoot and repair the equalizer. I don't have much experience, but I would like to learn, and this seems like a fun project. Found in this manual are important, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO. I have Bose 901s that are in need of re-edging. I have absolutely zero knowledge about anything speaker related. For perspective, i just learned the terms drivers, voice coil, etc a few months back.
A helpful person on Facebook explained the 3 ways to repair these speakers (Bose 901s given to me by in-laws that have not been played in 20 years) these are Series IV.
So in 20 years the foam is definitely shot as i saw foam piling up at the base of the cabinet. this gentlemen said i could either 1) replace drivers 2) re-cone 3) re-edge.

Speaker Repair in Orange County, CA is quoting $702/set to re-cone which includes re-edge. That is expensive. To just re-edge is $342.
If you were me would you a) re-cone; is it necessary? or b) just re-edge??
With my lack of knowledge would you pay to re-edge or should i try to do it myself? buying the kit and re-edging 'looks' easy on youtube videos but i dont want to mess anything up (centering? Air gaps?). thanks for any advice in advance. Btw is this the correct sub reddit for this question?
I got two 901 series VI loudspeakers with a Series IV equalizer for them from a relative who didn't use them for a long time. I would like to set them up but I'm clueless as to what amplifier or receiver to get, if I need one at all.

I'm a lowly college student so my budget is tight so the cheapest alternative would be ideal! My apartment isn't big so don't need these speakers to produce massive amount of sound either. Help me r/audiophile you're my only hope!
