Ignition is an R&B song written and produced by American R&B singer R. Kelly.

It was released in 2002 as the lead single from his sixth studio album Chocolate Factory. The singer first recorded it after his alleged sex tape was a sizzling topic in the media.

It was originally slated to be one of the songs on his forthcoming album called Loveland but the album got leaked later on, and Kelly decided to turn Loveland to Chocolate Factory.

Ignition was one of the songs he decided to remix, giving birth to the infamous Ignition Remix.

Viewed as one of his most well-known songs, it peaked at Number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Number 1 in the UK.

The song also appeared at Number 494 on Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest songs of all time.
